Who Are These Guys?

Tim Hamulack… Franquelis Osoria…Joe Beimel…who are these guys?

When you start complaining about the Giants and their problems with their relief staff, think of these guys. They ARE the Dodgers relief staff at this time.

Yesterday, the Pecklers’ (and Dodgers) Jae Seo, who has had his own stuggles this season, was cruising along against the Padres last night through 6 innings, giving up 1 run, 5 hits and 3 walks. He left the game with the score tied at 1.

Then, the 3 stooges came in to save the day for the Dodgers. Hamulack pitched a seventh inning which included a 3 run Mark Bellhorn homer. Score 4-1, Padres.

Chris Young, who had pitched pretty well, allowed 2 guys to get on in the 7th and was replaced by Scott Cassidy, who promptly gave up a game tying pinch hit 3 run homer to Olmedo Saenz. Score tied at 4.

Then Hamulack was replaced in the 8th by Osoria. Frankie got one of those lovely box score notes: “Osoria faced 5 batters in the 8th inning.” Five batters, five hits, five earned runs, no outs. Score 9-4. He was then replaced by Shemp Beimel, who actually got the side out without any further damage.

Our old buddy Brazleton came in to “close” out the ninth with an 11-4 lead, and he improved his ERA by only giving up one run in the inning, a solo shot by the most obscure player of the evening, Dodger rookie centerfielder Andre Ethier.

My favorite stat: Cassidy got one guy out, gave up a 3 run homer, and got the win.

Well deserved.

What no Bullinger for Osoria? Certainly those are well deserving stats for a Bullinger. . . .or at least a Trachsel.

Oh, and by the way, on that Seo thing. . . . . that's a shame.
